How to get married in the heat of the moment

In January 2018, a group of California state senators, including one Democrat, filed an amicus brief in the US Supreme Court, arguing that gay marriage is an “essential and fundamental right” guaranteed under the US Constitution.

The US Supreme court is expected to hear oral arguments in the case in the coming weeks.

The California senators said in their brief that gay couples should be able to wed in the state, where they are allowed to legally get married for religious reasons.

They also said that the state should have a legal right to ban gay marriage because “it is an essential and fundamental constitutional right that must be protected”.
