Florida heat pump system ‘a complete disaster,’ says governor

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez says he’s “deeply disappointed” in the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s decision to shut down the state’s largest heat pump for residents and businesses.

The state announced last week that the city would no longer operate the heat pump, which was supposed to help keep residents cool.

Gimenez says it’s “a complete catastrophe” for residents to not be able to access the system, which is critical to preventing the spread of heat.
